The S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW) soon will be upgrading how you interact with the agency. In order to provide the best service, we are modernizing both our tax system and our benefits portal. The improvements to the systems will create efficiencies for everything from filing responses to unemployment claims, the appeals process, NET-101 Pre-File information, filing contribution and wage reports and paying your unemployment taxes.

Unemployment Insurance Benefits

The new unemployment insurance (UI) benefits system is a self-service portal that is safe and secure. Launching in the spring, it will expand your access to the UI process by improving how you:


  • Respond to separations
  • Receive charging information
  • Respond to wage audits
  • View agency correspondence
  • File appeals
  • View benefits charges

Wage Reporting and Tax

This new online system – the State Unemployment Insurance Tax System (SUITS)– is designed to help you file unemployment insurance wage reports and pay unemployment insurance taxes. it is anticipated that SUITS will be implemented in the fall of 2017. The customized system will offer immediate account accessibility and streamlined business processing with the capability to:


  • Submit online registrations and changes to obtain liability determinations
  • Utilize online tools to file wage reports and submit tax payments
  • Access account history
  • Change and update account information
  • Communicate with a DEW representative
